A4M - 160031
A-4M, Bureau number 160031, has been obtained from storage at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson Arizona. The aircraft is currently in the care of our Project Restoration Team at Chino Airport in Southern California. They are in the process of restoring it to display condition.
As can be seen in the adjacent photo the aircraft is good condition and and gives us an excellent airframe to prepare for display.
Our aircraft is representative of a series of A-4 models stretching over 50 years of active Navy / Marine Corps service. Several models are still in use at Naval Air Station, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico.
Our A-4M is among the last of the A-4 series and was flown by Marine Attack Squadron 211 from Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro in the late 1970’s. In fact, one of the members of the restoration team flew the aircraft.
When he was assigned as to Marine Air Group-13. A-4s regularly flew combat training missions in the Southern California and Arizona desert areas.
